Arlesey...Clifton...Henlow...Langford
The Bedfordshire miners came from this knot of villages a few miles south of Biggleswade. This locality has no history of coal mining, but as in Cambridgeshire was a centre of the coprolite digging industry (click on Cambridgeshire for more details).
Most of the Bedfordshire families were housed on Butler's Hill on and around Hankin Street and near to Number 2 Colliery.
