William and Lucy Burton and family
William was born in Calverton in 1855 and Lucy (born Oscroft) in Pleasley Hill in 1859. William's father, also William, was a framework knitter and moved to St James Street, Hucknall in the 1870's so that his four sons could find work in the collieries. William junior and his sons later worked in the North Derbyshire coalfields and lodged in the village of Elmton near Bolsover, whilst the rest of the family remained 15 miles to the south in Hucknall. This photo was taken in Hucknall circa 1902.
