'Hucknall Torkard dot com' is a website dedicated to recording the history of 19th century Hucknall Torkard, Nottinghamshire, and placing what is known in the wider context of the period. During these times Hucknall saw more change that at any other period in its history as it grew from rural village to industrial town.

The Hucknall of today was known as Hucknall Torkard until 1916.
In 1889 the average birth rate was approximately 44/1000 head of population and the death rate 18/1000. These figures are similar to those for present day Ethiopia.
